Cape Saint Blaize Gin is to be considered a distillery with an artistic approach to producing uniquely tasty and incredibly beautiful gin.
It is distilled in their historic Okkerladen buildings in Mossel Bay in South Africa. They make a virtue of using well-tested and old traditions. all this to ensure you get a unique and well-balanced gin – every time.
The handmade ceramic bottles are based on age-old traditions from the area and it is clear that energy and heart are put into it throughout the entire production of this gin.
CAPE SAINT BLAIZE OCEANIC GIN is an infused gin that uses citrus from the coast, sea salt, Milkwood Berries and cold-brewed rooibos. All flavors that are individually unique and taste absolutely wonderful, but when combined with the gin here and the traditional botanicals, miracles almost happen.
It has a dark color, as if it has been left on a plate - which it has not. A soft structure, sweetness as if there is coffee in it, but it must be Rooibos that comes with those notes. It bites a little on the tongue, has a strong dryness from juniper which slowly fades into a soft lighter sweetness.
CAPE SAINT BLAIZE OCEANIC GIN is a gin that can be enjoyed neat, but excels in decidedly gin cocktails.
Tasting notes:
Colour: Crystal clear.
Nose: Rich and complex aroma with soft warm and bittersweet notes of fig and cherry, as well as juniper, saltwort and herbal rooibos. Very interesting and inviting scent!
Taste: Also complex and soft. On a mild base of crisp juniper berries, we first get a sweet and soft taste with notes of figs, cherries, blackcurrants and caramelized plums. The body gets more warmth and fullness with notes of roiboos, juniper and bark,
Texture: Luxurious and soft.
Aftertaste: Still sweet and full-bodied, but here fresh citrus emerges more, just as the crisp notes from the saltwort are quite evident.
Mixes with: Enjoy it with a classic Indian tonic served with plenty of ice and fresh or salted orange peel as a garnish. Then there is a feast for your taste buds!
Botanicals:
Juniper berries, lemon geranium, sour fig, milkwood berries, saltwort and cold-brewed Roiboos tea.
